happy new year from the leen's!

Happy New Year!

I am writing to you from the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport, admittedly killing time waiting for our delayed flight to Chicago.

always the case when flying to chicago o'hare.

We just said our final goodbyes to Ashley's family before we leave for Tanzania this Friday. That goodbye was about as painful as expected. It's hardly comforting in the moment, but we are nevertheless thankful that we have such wonderful people in our life to miss, and that miss us too.

So basically 2014 is not exactly off to a warm and fuzzy start, but in the words of P. Diddy, "this too shall pass."

Enough sobbing, let's move on to photos!

ashley and her mother baking peanut butter blossom cookies…yum!

ashley with her two sisters - nicole and rachel - in front of the family christmas tree in lino lakes, minnesota.

the final days of michael's beard.

michael back to being his normal beardless self. it was really nice getting back to the straight razor.

just another griswold family christmas at the leen's in naperville, illinois.

the leen family gathered in front of the christmas tree on christmas eve.

michael and ashley with michael's siblings - christen and ryan - during christmas eve dinner at sullivan's steakhouse.

michael and ashley dining at the signature room on the 95th floor of the john hancock building in chicago before seeing "a christmas carol" at goodman theatre with the whole leen family.

a view of navy pier from the signature room at night.

the leen family once again in front of the christmas tree, only this time michael has even less hair.
